Paris calls for Palestinian elections to be held on time

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot called on Wednesday for the Palestinian elections scheduled for November to be held, stressing that this represents a commitment made by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. The French minister added: "It is a way for the Palestinian people to express their legitimate aspiration for self-determination, and to make their voice heard, which unfortunately is not being heard today."
