Saif al-Dawla Hamdallah: I am convinced that al-Burhan has a specific purpose in insisting on insulting Dr. Kamil Idris and making him a laughingstock among people by keeping him in office and not dismissing him. Al-Burhan himself is convinced of the man's failure and has become desperate for him to improve. Proof of this truth is that al-Burhan has withdrawn Idris's authority over ministers more than once, divided the ministries into sectors, and assigned the task of overseeing them to his military colleagues on the Sovereignty Council; he gave a third to al-Atta, a third to Kabashi, and the remainder to Ibrahim Jabir. Previously, he had also withdrawn his government's tasks regarding the so-called reconstruction file and assigned them to Lieutenant General Jabir. Given this situation, just as one's closest relatives might accept the death of a patient with an incurable disease whose condition is deteriorating and for whom there is no hope of recovery, so that they may be relieved of their suffering, the best service al-Burhan could provide to Dr. Idris is to spare him by dismissing him, allowing him to spend the rest of his life under the care of his family and children. It has never happened in the history of Sudan, and perhaps in the history of Africa and the world, that supporters and opponents of a government agreed on the failure of a prime minister and demanded his departure as has happened in the case of Idris. He has become a target for both sides, because the man shows no mercy to himself and does not restrain himself from any action or statement that causes embarrassment to his supporters before his opponents. Behind this consensus is the fact that Idris's words and actions have made every patriotic citizen fear for the country's reputation, as Idris has moved from being a source of local ridicule to global fame. His words and actions have become a 'trend' on social media in Arab and African countries. Idris's problem is that he does not realize he has become famous in these circles; the proof is that whenever he exits one 'trend,' he enters another. Had he realized it, he would have paid attention to his condition after the mockery he faced over his weak chant for the life of Eritrean President Isaias Afwerki, and the consequences of his unnecessary use of foreign languages on local and international platforms instead of his own. I do not believe al-Burhan has any justification for keeping Idris after the misery he displayed when he denied the occurrence of a fuel crisis, shouting at the top of his lungs while the crowds repeated after him, 'There is no fuel crisis or gas crisis,' followed by takbir (God is Great). It was a caricature scene that destroyed the last shred of his dignity, especially as social media was flooded with clips showing lines of cars in front of gas stations with Idris's sad chanting playing in the background.
