Khalid Al-Aisir.. Forgiveness is a Virtue of the Noble

✍️ Written by/ Hassan Al-Bashir

▪️ To our colleague before our Minister, Khalid Al-Aisir, greetings befitting you and the professional ties and bonds of fellowship that unite us. A greeting from heart to heart, carried by the memories of the journalistic field and the days of the word that brought us together, before the differences of opinion and life's circumstances parted us. We, the children of the Fourth Estate, are bound by the bread and salt of the profession, and between us remain covenants and ties that make reproach a gateway to love, disagreement an occasion for tolerance, and hostility an opportunity to restore affection.

I write to you today out of faith in your character—not to take sides, nor to diminish anyone's right to resort to the law—but as an appeal for a stance required by the ethics of fellowship and the values of the Sudanese society in which we were raised, where we honor women, seek excuses for them, and offer pardon when pardon is possible.

▪️ My brother Khalid, Um Wadah, our fellow journalist, a woman of a strong voice and influential presence, has remained present with her pen and voice in the Battle of Dignity, conveying the pain of the people and expressing their sufferings and hopes in a time when calamities have intensified, spaces for expression have narrowed, and the homeland has been subjected to deep wounds. You may disagree with her opinions or reproach some of what she publishes, but the duty to respect the right to differ remains, as does the concern that disputes should not turn into closed doors from which it is impossible to return to goodwill.

While we know that the law has its course, we also believe that tolerance is a great human value, and that forgiveness does not diminish one's status, but rather elevates it in the eyes of others. How beautiful it is for forgiveness to be a bridge upon which those who differ can cross into a new chapter, and for people to find in the positions of great men room for hope, rather than more causes for division.

▪️ Perhaps the words of the poet Al-Abbadi touch our Sudanese conscience when he said: "How many times I have wept, and how many times I have wiped away the tears of those who wept."

How many hostilities have been extinguished by a kind word, how many wounds have been healed by a noble gesture, and how many hearts have returned to their purity when forgiveness took precedence over stubbornness!

▪️ My brother Khalid, I appeal to you, based on the bonds that unite members of our profession, to reconsider your position regarding the complaint filed against Um Wadah, to accept mediation efforts, and to grant forgiveness its deserved place. Open a door for reconciliation that preserves everyone's dignity and affirms that disputes can be resolved with wisdom and dialogue without severing the cords of affection. Forgiveness is not a concession of dignity, but an expression of its nobility, and honoring women is not a fleeting gesture, but an authentic value in our Sudanese conscience.

▪️ Oh Khalid, make of forgiveness a position for which people will remember you with kindness, and of tolerance a message befitting a man who carried the pen and assumed the responsibility of culture. How beautiful it is for us to disagree while preserving affection, to reproach while maintaining the bonds of brotherhood, and to ultimately triumph for the values of the homeland.
Please accept my highest respect and appreciation.
