The Prime Minister held a meeting of the National Committee for Economic Management to discuss improving the economic situation, the exchange rate, and developing production and agricultural sectors.

The National Committee for Economic Management held its periodic meeting today in Khartoum, chaired by His Excellency the Prime Minister, Professor Kamil Idris. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Dr. Graham Abdel-Qader, explained in a press statement that the meeting reviewed the status of the implementation of the decisions and mandates of the previous meeting related to improving the economic situation, controlling the exchange rate, and addressing its effects on the cost of living. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information stated that the meeting affirmed the necessity of improving and increasing production and productivity in the agricultural, livestock, and other sectors, and working to develop and modernize infrastructure for Sudanese exports, in addition to encouraging manufacturing industries that add value to Sudanese exports. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information indicated that the meeting also affirmed activating electronic connectivity, coordination between ministries and relevant authorities, and training and qualifying human resources in the field of digital transformation. The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture and Information said that the meeting affirmed the importance of activating discount sales markets to facilitate matters for citizens and alleviate living burdens, in addition to controlling and regulating border trade, continuing to review and audit company and business name registries to ensure they are actually conducting their business, and canceling those that do not meet the conditions. Dr. Graham Abdel-Qader added that the meeting affirmed support for the Taxation Chamber to perform its required role and work to expand the tax umbrella, and directed the closing of all loopholes that lead to the erosion of the national currency and the regulation of imports through the Baladna platform.
