Blood in the Open: When Peace is Assassinated by the Bullets of Treachery

▪️ I watched that video, captured through the lens of the militia itself, as it documented the most heinous massacre before the eyes of the world. It was a criminal scene in which twenty-four young men were liquidated at the hands of Rapid Support Forces elements in cold blood and with a brutality devoid of the slightest sense of humanity or mercy, rendering this crime a blood-stained stain on the records of modern history.

These victims, who were blindfolded, their hands bound, and thrown to the ground to be struck down by a heavy hail of bullets, had no crime other than refusing to continue in the furnace of this war. They chose to flee in search of peace and preferred to escape the hell of fighting after internalizing the sanctity of the blood of their fellow countrymen.

▪️ Yet, this inclination toward peace was met with murder in a manner that contradicts the most basic human values, revealing an approach based on oppression and liquidation without moral or religious restraint.

It is a cause for regret and pain that these victims, as they faced their final moments before the killing machine, were reciting the Shahada: "There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah," their voices rising in supplication and hope before their blood was shed and their souls taken.

▪️ These victims have returned to a Just Lord with whom no one is wronged, and before God, all adversaries shall meet, as the Almighty says:

And whoever kills a believer intentionally, his recompense is Hell, wherein he will abide eternally, and Allah has become angry with him and has cursed him and has prepared for him a great punishment.

This horrific massacre, similar crimes, and the associated support with arms that fuel the continuation of the war, necessitate international condemnation and a firm stance from all UN and regional organizations; for the failure to condemn these practices and hold their perpetrators accountable represents a moral failure in the face of the magnitude of the humanitarian catastrophe in Sudan.

▪️ On the other hand, the national stance requires concerted efforts to protect civilians, preserve the unity of the national territory, and work to end the war and restore security and stability to all parts of the country. The situation also requires rational and wise individuals across various social constituencies to act with awareness and responsibility to protect the youth and prevent them from being thrust into a furnace that destroys everything.

▪️ A salute to the Sudanese Armed Forces as they make progress in their operations and announce the recapture of regions, including Al-Mazroub and Umm Badr, paving the way for the return of security and stability and the return of these regions to the bosom of the nation, so that their people may enjoy safety and peace.

May God have mercy on the victims, protect Sudan and its people, spare the bloodshed, and restore security, stability, and peace to the nation.
