Dozens killed and injured as Armed Forces target the cities of Al-Debab and Al-Muglad in West Kordofan
West Kordofan – October 19, 2026 – Radio Dabanga: More than 200 people were killed and injured in an aerial bombardment that targeted the city of Al-Debab in West Kordofan state yesterday, Sunday. Additionally, a drone strike on the city of Al-Muglad resulted in two injuries, sparking widespread condemnation from tribal and civil entities. Relatives of the victims told Radio Dabanga that the air force targeted the city's market while it was crowded with citizens, leading to dozens of deaths and injuries, some of whom are in critical condition and were transported to hospitals for treatment. Relatives confirmed that preliminary figures exceed 100 dead and 120 wounded. The Sudan Founding Alliance condemned the attack launched by an Armed Forces drone, suspected to be a Bayraktar Akinci, against civilians in the cities of Al-Debab and Al-Muglad in West Kordofan state. The Alliance said in a statement reviewed by Radio Dabanga that the drone targeted a gathering of citizens who were preparing to travel in a truck after attending a funeral. It explained that the drone did not stop at targeting the truck with a direct missile the first time, but intentionally waited for citizens to gather to assist the wounded before bombing them a second time, resulting in 80 deaths and a large number of injuries, including children and women. In the same context, the same drone bombed the city of Al-Muglad with a missile that landed near a girls' school, resulting in at least two injuries. Ahmed Tagod Lisan, the official spokesman for the Sudan Founding Alliance, stated that targeting civilians and civilian objects constitutes a war crime and a crime against humanity. He called on the International Fact-Finding Mission and the International Criminal Court to conduct an independent and impartial international investigation into this massacre and other similar attacks, and to bring those responsible to justice. Three entities in West Kordofan condemned the massacre: the Supreme Council for Dar Hamar Affairs, the United Civil Forces (QIMAM), and the Al-Debab Emergency Room. According to statements reviewed by Radio Dabanga, the death toll reached approximately 150 civilians with more than 120 injured as a result of bombing that targeted a funeral tent and other areas in the locality.
