The Federal Gathering and the Sudan Liberation Movement Agree on a Package of Principles to End the War

Nairobi: Radio Dabanga - The Federal Gathering party and the Sudan Liberation Movement led by Abdul Wahid announced they have reached a joint political agreement aimed at ending the ongoing armed conflict and rebuilding the country's political process, affirming their full commitment to the Sudanese Declaration of Principles and transforming it into an action plan that addresses the historical roots of the crisis. Both parties called for an immediate and secure cessation of hostilities and the facilitation of unhindered humanitarian aid access to those affected, emphasizing that there is no military solution to the conflict and that preserving the unity and sovereignty of Sudan is a top national priority. The two sides also agreed to uphold the goals of the glorious December Revolution, while excluding the National Congress Party, the Islamic Movement, and their affiliates from participating in shaping the country's future. They further committed to launching a purely Sudanese political process that establishes a state of citizenship and the rule of law, and the formation of a single, professional national army subject to civilian leadership.
