Sudan Doctors Network: 'Rapid Support Forces' turned Sodari Hospital into a 'ruin' and looted its medical equipment
Amsterdam: Sunday, September 27, 2026 – Radio Dabanga. The Sudan Doctors Network announced that the rural hospital of Sodari in North Kordofan State — which served more than 50,000 families before the war — was subjected to an attack and looting that impacted its infrastructure, devices, and medical equipment by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF). The Sudanese Armed Forces took control of the Sodari area in North Kordofan on Friday, a move military analysts considered to be the recovery of most localities in North Kordofan and the severing of supply and transportation lines for the RSF. In a statement viewed by Radio Dabanga, the network said that the attack and looting led to the destruction of the hospital, turning it into a ruin and depriving citizens of essential health services they are in dire need of, given the difficult humanitarian and health conditions the region is experiencing. The network emphasized that targeting health facilities, looting them, and destroying their equipment represents a direct assault on the right to access healthcare, undermines the remaining capacity of the health system to provide services to civilians, and constitutes a violation of international rules and norms that prohibit attacks on medical facilities and healthcare workers. The Sudan Doctors Network called on the international community and humanitarian and human rights organizations to condemn these violations, work to ensure the protection and rehabilitation of health facilities in conflict zones, and exert pressure on the RSF leadership to stop attacks on medical facilities and hold those responsible accountable, ensuring the right of civilians to safe and unobstructed access to health services.
