The October Anniversary and the Aggravation of the Crisis of the De Facto Governments
By: Taj al-Sir Othman. 1. The crisis of the de facto governments in Port Sudan and Nyala has deepened with the prolongation of the war of destruction. Living, economic, health, and security conditions have deteriorated to the point where life has become unbearable. War crimes have expanded, famine is imminent, the country has lost its national sovereignty due to external interference in internal affairs, and political, union, and press freedoms have been confiscated. All the objective conditions that led to the October 1964 revolution—whose anniversary falls this month—have become available, necessitating the provision of the subjective factor through organization and good preparation for the coming revolution, and benefiting from the lessons of the setbacks of previous revolutions in October 1964, the March-April 1985 uprising, and the December 2018 revolution. 2. The October Revolution was the product of the accumulation of the Sudanese people's struggle throughout six years of military rule, in which participated: workers, farmers, Sudanese women, students, intellectuals, the Nubian people against displacement, the national armed forces, and the front of opposition parties, in addition to the steadfastness of detainees in prisons and before courts. This accumulation and momentum of struggle continued until the moment of explosion, which was sparked by the University of Khartoum seminar where the student Ahmed al-Qurashi was martyred. Afterward, the revolution ignited, and the general political strike and civil disobedience led by the Front of Bodies, formed by unions and political parties, took place until the rule of General Abboud was overthrown (for more details, see the book 'A People's Revolution: Six Years of Struggle Against Military Rule', published by the Communist Party, 1965). 3. One of the most important lessons of the October experience was the experience of the general political strike and civil disobedience, which became a weapon in the hands of the masses to topple dictatorial regimes, as happened in the March-April 1985 uprising and the December 2018 revolution, which was broader with its experience of sit-ins and the June 30, 2019 march after the General Command massacre, for which the martyrs' families are still awaiting investigation results, the delivery of criminals to justice, and the tracking of the missing. 4. The October Revolution confirmed that the hour of change for any dictatorial regime is not determined by the desire of this party or that, but is determined by the availability of objective and subjective conditions (or the maturity of the revolutionary crisis), which are defined by: - The regime's inability to govern, its disintegration, and the depth of conflicts within it, such that it becomes difficult to suppress the revolution, and the masses reach a state of distress such that life becomes unbearable under the ruling regime. - The presence of revolutionary leadership that proposes an alternative to the governing system. - The presence of a revolutionary army that is prepared to continue the revolution until victory. These are the theories of the Sudanese revolution, which were confirmed by the October 1964 revolution, the experiences of the Mahdist revolution of 1881, the March-April 1985 uprising, and the December 2018 revolution. alsirbabo@yahoo.co.uk The post The October Anniversary and the Aggravation of the Crisis of the De Facto Governments appeared first on Sudanile.
