Amsterdam: Omdurman: Kampala/ Wednesday, September 30, 2026: Radio Dabanga - Citizens in Omdurman have complained about the ongoing fuel crisis for several days, amid the closure of a number of service stations despite having gasoline available. Dabanga observed long lines of vehicles in front of the Wadi al-Sundus pump in Al-Qal'a, on the road separating Al-Thawra block 10 and Al-Qal'a, as the fuel crisis continues in Omdurman. Citizens who spoke to Dabanga said the crisis has been ongoing for about five days, and that some stations stop selling for long hours, forcing vehicle owners to move between stations in search of fuel and wait in extended lines. Some citizens linked the crisis to expectations of a new fuel pricing announcement, noting that the price of gasoline has risen to around 35, with talk of a new increase that may raise it to 41, according to their statements. They described the situation as "very bad and unpromising," expressing their dissatisfaction with the recurring fuel crises and consecutive price hikes, demanding that the crisis be addressed and the regularity of supply at stations be ensured. Khartoum State witnessed a similar fuel crisis in the middle of this September, characterized by the closure of a number of service stations, a scarcity of gasoline and diesel, and long queues in front of stations amid expectations of price hikes. The crisis at the time coincided with an increase in the customs dollar rate by about 9.7 percent, from 3,960.24 pounds to 4,346.65 pounds per dollar. Citizens said at the time that fuel crises have become recurring on a near-monthly basis and may last for more than a week, forcing some to wait for long hours in front of stations or buy fuel from the black market at higher prices.
