Federal Ministry of Health: Scabies Outbreak Among Displaced Persons in Western Omdurman

Khartoum – October 7, 2026 – Dabanga Radio: The Federal Ministry of Health has revealed an outbreak of scabies among those displaced by the war in Western Omdurman due to the lack of water. During the Emergency Operations Center meeting yesterday, Tuesday, the Ministry noted an increase in cholera cases compared to the previous two years, with one case reported in Sawdiri locality, North Kordofan. It confirmed a decrease in dengue fever cases across all states except Sennar State (Singa and Sennar), and noted a general decline in the rate of dengue fever infections compared to last year, alongside a decrease in cases of viral hepatitis. It indicated that the states with the highest disease prevalence are White Nile, Al Jazirah, and Sennar, noting that Al Jazirah State has been affected by autumn floods, particularly the South Jazirah locality. The Khartoum State report indicated a decrease in malaria and dengue fever cases, and the state’s freedom from watery diarrhea.
