Khartoum: October 7, 2026: Radio Dabanga. The Minister of Education and Scientific Research in the Darfur Regional Government, Dr. Tawhida Abdel Rahman, appealed to the Chadian authorities to expedite the issuance of written approval that would allow Sudanese students located in eastern Chad to sit for the exams, in light of the fact that the date for the exams has not yet been determined. About 8,000 Sudanese certificate students, their parents, and teachers living in Sudanese refugee camps in eastern Chad are experiencing a state of anxiety and frustration due to the delay of the Sudanese certificate exams, amid the ambiguity surrounding when they will be held or if they will be organized at all, especially given the announcement of previous exam results and the closure of university admission applications in Sudan. In a post on her Facebook page, Tawhida stated that the ministry understands the level of anxiety that the students and their families are living through as a result of the delay in setting an exam date, clarifying that the failure to complete the procedures is not due to any shortcoming on her part, but rather to the failure to receive written approval from the Chadian authorities. She pointed out that the relevant authorities in the regional government have exerted efforts and made contacts to reach the competent bodies in Chad, confirming that efforts are continuing to complete the procedures and enable the students to take their exams without further delay. The Minister of Education and Scientific Research emphasized that education is a right that should not be subject to politicization, stressing that students represent the hope of the future, and that the circumstances imposed by the war should not deprive them of their right to continue their education and sit for the exams. Tawhida called on the students and their families to be patient and keep the faith, noting that the completion of the procedures has become dependent on obtaining written approval from the Chadian authorities. The Minister of Education and Scientific Research in the Darfur Regional Government renewed her appeal to the state of Chad to allow Sudanese students in the east of the country to take their exams, in recognition of their right to education and to preserve their academic future, which has been affected by the repercussions of the war in Sudan.
