Blue Nile – October 9, 2026 – Radio Dabanga: The Blue Nile Regional Government announced the death of 30 civilians on Friday morning in an attack launched by Rapid Support Forces (RSF) using drones on the Abu Shandi area in Wad Al-Mahi locality, near Village (6). In a statement by its official spokesperson, reviewed by Radio Dabanga, the regional government held the RSF responsible for this assault. It called on the international community, as well as human rights and humanitarian organizations, to condemn these violations, work to document and investigate them, hold those responsible accountable, and ensure they do not escape punishment. Citizens revealed that many were killed and wounded, mostly women and children, on Friday in a drone attack on a camp for displaced persons in the Abu Shandi area at Village 6 in Wad Al-Mahi locality, Blue Nile. Citizens stated that the displaced had fled from Geissan locality to the Abu Shandi area seeking safety. For its part, the 'Emergency Lawyers' group stated that an RSF drone targeted the Abu Shandi displaced persons shelter center in Wad Al-Mahi locality in the Blue Nile region today, resulting—according to preliminary information—in the death of eight children and serious injuries to 26 women. Condemnation: The 'Emergency Lawyers' group condemned this attack in the strongest terms, stating that it represents a dangerous escalation in the continued targeting of civilians and civilian objects, and reveals a profound disregard for civilian lives and safety, especially the displaced who sought refuge in shelter centers seeking safety from the ravages of war. Targeting these centers constitutes a grave violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, which mandates the protection of civilians and civilian objects. The group demanded an immediate halt to attacks on civilians and civilian objects, an independent and transparent investigation into this massacre, the accountability of all those responsible, and the assurance that perpetrators of violations do not escape punishment. Repelling an Attack on Umm Darfa: For its part, the 4th Infantry Division and supporting forces in Al-Damazin stated that they succeeded in repelling an attack by the RSF and the SPLM in the Umm Darfa area in the eastern sector of the Blue Nile region. The division noted that it carried out a precise military operation in the Umm Darfa area, praising the cohesion between the citizens and the Armed Forces. Displacement: In Al-Damazin, citizens revealed a noticeable movement of displacement from the city due to drone attacks and ground assaults on numerous areas. A female citizen told Radio Dabanga that the regional government is urging citizens to remain in the city and not to displace. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) had previously reported the displacement of an additional 1,275 individuals (255 families) from 10 different villages in Wad Al-Mahi locality in the Blue Nile region, due to deteriorating security conditions. Reports indicate that the displaced have moved to various locations in Al-Roseires locality in the Blue Nile region.
