Ed El Fursan: October 9, 2026: Radio Dabanga - 11 people were killed in armed clashes in the city of Ed El Fursan, South Darfur state, on Thursday evening following a dispute between a Rapid Support Forces (RSF) unit and a motorcycle trader, which escalated into armed fighting within the city amidst high security tensions and fears of the violence spreading. A local source in Ed El Fursan told Radio Dabanga that the incident began when a citizen, who had previously filed a police report regarding his stolen motorcycle, went to the market, spotted the motorcycle, and informed the police. The source explained that an RSF officer named Al-Nazeer Hilal, accompanied by two guards, went with the citizen to the location of the motorcycle, where the person in possession of it claimed he had bought it from a motorcycle showroom owner in the market. The source added that the force proceeded to the showroom owner, who is well-known in the market, and asked him to accompany them to the police station. According to the source, the showroom owner asked for time to finish handing over the motorcycles currently in his shop to their owners before going to the police station, but the force refused his request. The source noted that the owner suggested they take one of his relatives who was present and hold him until he finished handing over the motorcycles, but the force refused again, leading to an argument that turned into an armed confrontation. The source stated that the showroom owner opened fire on the officer and one of the force members, killing them both, while another member of the force fired back at the trader, killing him instantly. This was followed by the outbreak of armed clashes within the city throughout the night, with the death toll rising to 11. The clashes caused a state of security tension among residents, with growing fears of renewed fighting and further deterioration of the situation. However, the source reported that the security situation stabilized this morning following the arrival of a force from Nyala, the state capital.
