The Farce of Hired Mourners and 'Lark' Journalism

Rasha Awad: The biggest lie echoed by the war-of-regret trumpets is that Al-Burhan rejects the Quartet's roadmap and the civilian forces' peace project because it allegedly legitimizes the militia politically and militarily. The real reason for the rejection is that the peace proposals include the military's withdrawal from power and the restructuring of security and military apparatuses into a single professional, national army free from the control of the Kizan. In this framework, there would be no military presence for the Rapid Support Forces, nor for the dozens of other militias currently allied with the army, and the army would not continue with its current dysfunctions. This is the theoretical basis of the Sudanese and international peace proposals, and Al-Burhan and the Kizan refuse to even discuss this basis! It is not because it would maintain the militia, but because it threatens their monopoly on power through military means. As for what makes one fall over laughing, it is the farce of one of the 'Lark' journalists of the Sudanese people shamelessly sitting before the screens saying: 'We cannot accept peace with the militia that killed, raped, and committed genocide in El Fasher, El Geneina, and so on!!' He says this at a time when Al-Burhan is embracing Musa Hilal, Al-Nour Al-Qubba, Al-Savanna, and Baqqal! Was Musa Hilal distributing roses and basil to the people of Darfur, or was he a perpetrator of genocides and crimes exceeding what the RSF committed in El Geneina? Who is responsible for the violations in El Fasher and its massacres? Is it not Al-Nour Al-Qubba? The facts and realities on the ground that we see with our own eyes state clearly: the army and the Kizan have no living conscience or excessive humanity that would be offended by sitting with perpetrators of violations and crimes! For the simple reason that they have a history full of violations and crimes; they are the mastermind behind all the atrocities of the Janjaweed in the past, and during this war, they have committed violations including slaughtering humans like sheep and bombing markets and hospitals, and at this very moment, they are allied with the biggest violators! If, suddenly, their conscience awakened and they acquired delicate feelings hurt by violations, this would be a very beautiful development! But its logical conclusion is to go to negotiations with the aim of stopping the war because that is the only gateway to stopping the mill of violations. Its logical conclusion is to reform the security and military system to dry up the sources of genocides, rapes, burning of villages, and the establishment of ghost houses! We urge the hired mourners and the 'Lark' journalists of the Sudanese people to show courage and disclose the real reasons for their insistence on continuing the war, represented by the agenda of Kizan-military rule and the looting protected by weapons.
