Khartoum – September 28, 2026 – Radio Dabanga The General Command of the Sudanese Armed Forces announced its categorical rejection of the statements made by the Chief of Staff of the Ethiopian National Defense Force, Berhanu Jula, and the accusations included therein that Sudan is supporting the Ethiopian opposition. The Ethiopian Army Chief of Staff, Berhanu Jula, had accused Eritrea, Sudan, and Egypt on Sunday of supporting the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF), after 7 armed movements announced an alliance to wage a total war against the federal government, at a time when fighting continues in the Amhara and Tigray regions bordering Sudan, as well as the Afar region. Jula said: "We are fighting organized and allied forces serving the interests of external powers," adding: "Neither Eritrea nor the TPLF can achieve anything on their own, even if they formed an alliance, unless they receive support, assistance, and supplies from Sudan, Egypt, and other external powers." For its part, the official spokesperson for the Armed Forces described the Ethiopian accusations in a statement on Sunday as baseless, pointing to the availability of information and facts regarding the continued support and assistance provided to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) from Ethiopian territory, including training, supply, and the use of Ethiopian territory for military activities (such as strategic and suicide drones). The Ethiopian government has continued to deny Sudanese accusations of providing support and assistance to the RSF. The official spokesperson for the Sudanese Armed Forces said that the Armed Forces affirm Sudan's commitment to international law and the principles of good neighborliness, and that it does not interfere in the internal affairs of other countries, but at the same time, it will not allow its sovereignty or national security to be compromised. The statement called on the Ethiopian side to be accurate and responsible, and to resort to dialogue and official channels in a way that preserves the security and stability of both countries and the region. It emphasized the ability of the Sudanese Armed Forces to protect the country's borders and sovereignty, and its response to everything that threatens its security and stability.
