The Council of Ministers held its periodic meeting today in Khartoum, chaired by His Excellency the Prime Minister, Professor Kamil Idris. The Minister of Culture, Information, and Tourism, Mr. Khalid Al-Aisar, stated in a press release that the Council of Ministers began its proceedings by discussing the economic situation. In this regard, it heard a briefing from the Minister of Justice, Dr. Abdullah Mohamed Dourf, regarding the decisions and measures taken by the government to control prices, regulate the exchange rate, and stabilize the national currency. Mr. Khalid Al-Aisar indicated that the Council of Ministers discussed gold export policies and directed the formation of a committee to coordinate between relevant authorities and harmonize financial policies and procedures to regulate the quality of gold export services in Sudan. The Minister of Culture and Information noted that the meeting reviewed the progress of the National Economic Management Committee and affirmed the need for the committee to continue its work toward improving the economic situation. He added that the meeting discussed the policy followed regarding the import of used cars and affirmed the necessity of making decisions regarding them. Furthermore, the Council of Ministers reviewed a report on the performance of the 2025-2026 summer agricultural season, addressing the current status of the agricultural season and ways to support farmers. The Minister of Culture and Information explained that the Council of Ministers approved the 2026 Petroleum Wealth Amendment Bill, noting that the meeting was reassured about the status of petroleum derivatives in the country and highlighted the Minister of Energy's assurances regarding the availability of additional petroleum derivatives within the coming hours.
