Today, we open the file on the future of higher education in Sudan, focusing specifically on the University of Khartoum, one of the oldest educational institutions in the country. After more than three years of war, the university faces major questions: How can studies resume? How can professors and students return to their positions? And how can the halls, laboratories, and hospitals affected by the war be rehabilitated? Will the return be through full in-person education, or does blended learning, which combines in-person and online instruction, represent a more realistic option at this stage? We discuss these questions and others with Dr. Manal Al-Sayed Abdul Rahman, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Science and Rapporteur of the Preparatory Committee for the University of Khartoum Professors' Union.
