His Excellency Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris arrived this evening in the Republic of Zimbabwe to participate in the 25th Summit of COMESA Heads of State and Government, held in the Zimbabwean capital, Harare, from October 19 to 23. Upon his arrival at Harare International Airport, he was received by a number of senior Zimbabwean government officials, along with Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ambassador Mohieddin Salem, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Trade Dr. Awad Salam, Sudan's Ambassador to the Republic of Zimbabwe Ibrahim Al-Sheikh, and the embassy staff. The summit is being held under the theme "One Market, One Future," and its agenda includes several important institutional and strategic topics. The summit is expected to discuss a number of priority economic issues, most notably the removal of non-tariff barriers, the promotion of intra-regional trade, the encouragement of investment and industrialization, and maximizing the utilization of regional value chains. The summit is also expected to address ways to develop innovative financing mechanisms, support entrepreneurship and productive projects, mitigate investment risks, and promote sustainable development within COMESA countries. It is noteworthy that the summit holds particular importance for Sudan as it seeks to strengthen its economic integration within its regional surroundings and benefit from the opportunities provided by COMESA markets in the fields of trade, investment, and manufacturing. Furthermore, the summit represents an important platform to support Sudan's efforts aimed at developing national exports, enhancing trade and logistical connectivity with regional countries, and attracting investments to priority productive sectors, including agriculture, livestock, mining, and manufacturing. Additionally, COMESA initiatives related to removing non-tariff barriers and expanding financing and investment opportunities offer promising prospects for enhancing the competitiveness of the Sudanese economy and maximizing its benefit from intra-African trade. His Excellency the Prime Minister was accompanied on this visit by the Special Representative of the Prime Minister Dr. Al-Hussein Al-Khalifa Al-Sadiq Al-Hafian and the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers Ali Mohammed Ali.
