The 25th Summit of the COMESA Authority of Heads of State and Government concluded its proceedings in the Zimbabwean capital, Harare, with the participation of His Excellency Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris and his accompanying delegation. The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Mohiuddin Salem, stated in a press briefing in Harare that the Prime Minister delivered Sudan's statement before the summit. The summit's final communiqué issued strong resolutions that designated the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) as a rebel militia and expressed support for the 'Hope Government's' plans for recovery and moving forward toward sustainable development. The Foreign Minister noted that the summit put forward numerous plans and programs in accordance with the strategy established by COMESA within the framework of the African Union's Agenda 2063. He emphasized that Sudan participated at all three levels of the summit, including the experts, ministerial, and presidential levels, expressing his hope that the decisions adopted by the summit would contribute meaningfully to African integration toward sustainable solutions for African problems. The Foreign Minister explained that the summit was held under the theme 'One Market, One Future' within the framework of African integration. He added that the Sudanese delegation, in the context of its contributions, focused on the danger of the movement of militias and terrorist groups across borders and their detrimental impact on the economy, pointing out that many African countries have been negatively affected by these militias, which actively contribute to destabilizing internal community situations and negatively contribute to drug smuggling and activities that affect youth and women, thereby hindering African societies. Ambassador Mohiuddin Salem emphasized the importance of this summit for the Sudanese government, especially since the government has concluded the Strategic Hope Forum and emerged with a unified strategic vision for all state institutions, clarifying that the participation was timely and holds great significance. He noted that the summit provided an opportunity for side meetings held by Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris, including the President of the host country Zimbabwe, Kenyan President William Ruto, the President of Zambia, the Executive Secretary of COMESA, and several heads of delegations, noting that these meetings focused on developing and enhancing cooperation between Sudan and these countries. The Foreign Minister affirmed that Sudan, with its African brothers and partners, can integrate in many aspects of commercial, industrial, and economic life by leveraging the preferential advantages of certain countries within this system. Ambassador Mohiuddin Salem stated that the summit, at all its technical, ministerial, and presidential levels, provides Sudan with many insights that can serve as a guide as it recovers and moves forward toward a clear victory.
