His Excellency Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris was briefed on the health situation in the country, particularly the state of epidemics, which is witnessing stability this year and a decline in rates of dengue fever, malaria, and cholera cases in some states of Sudan, alongside a general improvement in health services. This came during his meeting today in Khartoum with the Minister of Health, Dr. Haitham Mohamed, who explained in a press statement that the meeting addressed the challenges facing the Ministry of Health in light of the victories achieved by the Armed Forces in some states of Kordofan and Darfur, and the urgent need for humanitarian and health interventions in those regions, as well as the health system's need for basic interventions in cooperation with United Nations agencies and international organizations. The Minister of Health indicated that the meeting covered the topic of health financing and the significant health needs amid declining global support and increasing national health requirements, noting that his ministry is exerting great efforts in this direction with regional and international partners to bridge the gap, while expressing his gratitude to the Ministry of Finance for its continuous support for basic health services. The Minister of Health explained that the meeting touched upon several axes including inaugurations and expansions of health services in various Sudanese states, which include the Heart Center in both Kassala and Gedaref states and the Emergency Center in Gezira State, noting that arrangements are underway for the Prime Minister to preside over these expansions in health services, expressing his hope that this expansion in health services will reach the remaining states of Sudan, especially Darfur and Kordofan, in the near future.
