The Honorable Prime Minister chaired an expanded meeting in Khartoum today, which included ministers from the economic sector. The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation, Professor Esmat Qurashi, explained in a press statement that the meeting discussed several issues and reviewed the status of the summer agricultural season, including the cultivated areas and production expectations. The Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation confirmed that sorghum exports have been suspended since 2024 and that there is no intention to lift the ban on sorghum exports either now or in the near future, noting in this regard that neither the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation nor the Ministry of Industry and Trade have issued any permits or authorizations for the export of sorghum.
