His Excellency Prime Minister Professor Kamil Idris was briefed on the results of Sudan's participation in the International Mining Conference, which was recently held in the city of Tianjin in the People's Republic of China.
This came during his meeting today in Khartoum with the Minister of Minerals, Mr. Nour Al-Daim Taha, who explained in a press statement that he provided a briefing to His Excellency the Prime Minister during the meeting regarding the understandings reached on the sidelines of the conference with about 70 companies from China and various countries that expressed their interest in investing in mining in Sudan.
The Minister of Minerals explained that His Excellency the Prime Minister directed the acceleration of regulating traditional mining and monitoring the gold produced. He also directed the establishment of the Sudan Center for Mining and Earth Sciences, which will contribute significantly to training, qualifying human resources, coordinating training with various countries, and enhancing the efficiency of employees in the Ministry of Minerals. The relevant authorities were directed to provide the necessary capabilities for this center so that it may perform its designated role.
The Minister of Minerals indicated that the meeting touched upon the status of the implementation of the recent Council of Ministers' decisions regarding economic reforms.
